A direct air link between India's Kolkata and Cambodia's Siem Reap will return on October 1, 2026, marking a significant development for tourism and commerce between the two nations, according to Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

IndiGo will operate the Kolkata-Siem Reap service three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using Airbus A320neo aircraft. The route originally launched in November 2025 but was temporarily halted due to seasonal demand patterns.

Sinn Chansereyvutha, spokesman for the civil aviation authority, characterized the route's return as an important step in strengthening Cambodia-India relations. He emphasized that the connection would facilitate growth in tourism, religious travel, and bilateral trade.

"This represents a major commercial partnership opportunity for both nations, as the air service will enable collaborative tourism marketing, appealing travel packages, and enhanced connectivity," Chansereyvutha said on September 23.

He confirmed that Siem Reap Angkor International Airport stands ready to accommodate IndiGo's operations with safe and efficient service standards.

Currently, Air Cambodia maintains direct service between Phnom Penh and New Delhi.

Thoun Sinan, who leads the Pacific Asia Travel Association's Cambodia chapter, pointed out that India ranks as the world's second-largest source of tourists after China, making the flight restoration particularly valuable for Cambodia's tourism and trade industries.

Tourism ministry data shows Cambodia welcomed 71,046 Indian visitors in 2025, representing an 8.5 percent decrease from the previous year. Through August 2026, Indian arrivals totaled 35,905, down 19.2 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

As of August 2026, Cambodia's aviation sector included four domestic airlines and 29 international carriers serving the country.
