IndiGo is set to resume its direct service between Kolkata, India, and Siem Reap, Cambodia, beginning October 1, 2026. The route will operate three times a week — on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — using Airbus A320neo aircraft.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) confirmed the announcement, with spokesman Sinn Chansereyvutha calling it a positive development for bilateral ties. The route was originally launched in November 2025 but was paused due to seasonal factors.

"This represents a significant commercial opportunity for both nations, opening doors for joint tourism campaigns, bundled travel packages and stronger air connectivity," Chansereyvutha said.

He added that Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) is fully prepared to handle the carrier's return and ensure smooth, safe operations.

Thoun Sinan, president of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Cambodia Chapter, pointed to India's position as the world's second-largest outbound tourism market as a key reason the resumption matters for Cambodia's travel and trade industries.

Cambodia welcomed 71,046 Indian visitors in 2025, a decline of 8.5 per cent compared with the previous year. Through the first eight months of 2026, arrivals from India stood at 35,905 — down 19.2 per cent from the same stretch in 2025.

National carrier Air Cambodia currently runs direct flights between Phnom Penh and New Delhi. As of August 2026, four domestic carriers and 29 international airlines were operating within Cambodia, according to the SSCA.
