Law enforcement in Cambodia has detained seven individuals from China following the discovery of over 800 kilograms of narcotics, dozens of weapons, and thousands of ammunition rounds during a coastal operation in Preah Sihanouk province.

According to the National Police, the enforcement action unfolded on September 23 in waters near Koh Russei island. Touch Poleak, who heads the Water Border Police Department, coordinated the mission alongside personnel from the Maritime Crime Suppression Unit and the 240th Water Border Police Battalion stationed in the province.

The breakthrough came after multiple days of investigation that helped identify the suspects. Officers first stopped a speedboat with two Chinese occupants aboard, which subsequently led them to intercept two land vehicles carrying five additional Chinese nationals.

During the searches, police recovered 42 sacks filled with a white crystalline material believed to be methamphetamine, totaling roughly 840 kilograms in weight.

The arsenal confiscated included 10 long-barrel firearms, 39 pistols, 108 ammunition magazines, and 7,937 individual rounds. Authorities also impounded three motorcycles from the suspects.

All detained individuals and collected evidence have been handed over to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Commissariat for processing and legal action.

Officials have not released information regarding where the suspected contraband originated or where it was headed.
